Alfresco dining in summers is always an ideal plan. But when you plan to execute it and pull out the patio furniture, your enthusiasm goes down because of the grime, mildew, and stains. Which may force you to eat inside the house rest of the summer, but relax we have a few tips to overcome these problems and enjoy your al fresco dinner.
You are just 3 steps away from sparkling clean furniture.
Ok, before you start, look for the instruction attached to the inner side of the cushions. Some covers are removable and can be washed in washing machines and some of the wooden furniture may require special treatment.
Use a Brush or vacuum to remove if any leaves, pine needles, or other debris accumulated on it.
Now, scrub the surface with a sponge using a relevant cleaner. Use a cup of good quality dishwashing liquid and mix it in a gallon of water. It will give a thorough and gentle cleaning to most of the materials.
Then grab a spray nozzle and rinse it in the garden itself and leave it to air-dry completely.
You need to work a bit hard in some special conditions:
Soil or Gunk
If your outdoor furniture has soil or gunk and you want to remove it, grab a good quality of cleaner. Add the cleaning solution in the water. Then take a nice sponge cleaner, dunk it in water, squeeze out the excess, and wipe away the grime.
In case of rusted metal, be careful and sand off the corrosion with the help of sandpaper. Wipe away the particles with a damp cloth, and leave it to dry completely. Cover it with a rust-resistant primer, then top with rust-resistant spray paint.
Mold or Mildew Surface
If it is the case of mold or mildew surface, you have two options. The first option works little more reliably, but should only be used on a surface which is bleach safe. Grab a spray bottle and fill it with a solution of 1 tsp of bleach and one point of warm water. Spray on the mildewed area, then scrub gently and rinse thoroughly. When the bleach option isn’t appropriate than use undiluted white vinegar. Spray the vinegar and leave it in the sun for an hour and then wipe away the residue with a damp sponge.
